TUNING IN TO YOUR INNER SANCTUARY

The Art of Knowing When to Go After and When to Surrender

Vol. 31

DISCOVERING THE CUES OF THE EARTH, MOON, AND STARS

My exploration into Sabat Dates and the phases of the Moon has led to an extensive library of blog posts both on my website and also a collection of exclusive rituals available here within Behind the Veil. These resources are dedicated to nurturing the connection I aim to foster with the Earth, Nature, and the entirety of our surroundings. In essence, the key to profound insights continually lies in the act of connection. Through connection, we unlock the pathways to understanding, continuous learning, and the cultivation of robust, respectful, and reverential bonds.

As Libra season descended upon us, I found myself in deep contemplation about the essence of these connections. In a world where many seem to jump on the bandwagon, promoting these dates to appear fashionable, I yearn to alleviate some of the associated pressures.

It's worth noting that, depending on the sources you follow, certain calendar dates can sometimes be surrounded by quite a buzz. This buzz often arises from a mix of marketing tactics and our natural inclination to share things we find intriguing, even if we don't fully grasp their accuracy. It seems that a significant driving force behind this enthusiasm is the fear of missing out, or FOMO. There's a belief that if you aren't aware of the moon transitioning to a new phase or an astrological event of significance, you might miss out on a transformative opportunity to experience profound magic in your life.

We often find ourselves under significant pressure to carve out time in our already busy lives, attempting to engage in specific rituals or events tied to certain products, all in pursuit of an idealised outcome. The truth is, I've missed Sabat dates on more than one occasion because competing responsibilities took precedence. In fact, not too long ago, you might recall that I became caught up in the whirlwind of life, and as a result, I sent out a Sabat Forecast nearly a week later than intended. This serves as a reminder that time can sometimes slip through our fingers, but it doesn't diminish the significance of our journey or our connection to the Earth and its natural cycles.

"In a world entranced by the instant, where access is swift and desires are immediate, let us revere the timeless constancy of nature."

Connecting to dates on the calendar is simply another means of control. And the Earth does not control, she just is, she just does. We can learn a lot from the Earth's simple beingness. The Gregorian calendar, the one we all commonly use, often masks the profound Earth-centred meaning of our existence. It is crucial to acknowledge that this calendar does not reflect the Earth’s rhythms or the connections that are vital to all life on Earth.

At its core, our current societal paradigm tends to reinforce the notion that humans exist separately from the natural world, perpetuating the idea that we are not part of "Nature” more that we are in control of it and own it. However, deep within the depths of our being, many of us resonate with this profound truth – that we are intrinsically connected to the Earth, and a deep yearning for a sense of belonging compels us to explore this connection. Essentially, we are but vessels for the Earth's own voice, a conduit for her whispered wisdom. Hence, I often lovingly address her as The Goddess, the moon as Mother Moon, and the sun as Father Sun. These are not my mere words; they are the echoes of millennia, resonating with profound emotions, forging connections steeped in reverence from thousands of years past.

Rediscovering our path to this profound sense of belonging can prove to be a challenging odyssey. The stories and maps we inherit in our life's journey often misguide us, steering us away from true connection. Though we may occasionally catch fleeting glimpses of this belonging, the quest for a sustained and profound union continues to slip through our grasp. The conventional maps we hold dear fall short in guiding us on this extraordinary journey, no matter how we attempt to reinterpret them.

The pathways of authenticity, the stories that resonate deep within us, and the routes sincerely etched by Earth's call remain aglow with the promise of rekindling our heart's longing for interconnected belonging. It's a call that echoes from all corners of the Earth, offering us myriad opportunities to retrace the authentic ways to connect. As we open ourselves to the natural world, the Sun and Moon's tender dance, the rhythmic embrace of tides, the harmonious kinship of flora and fauna, the primordial elements, the unseen mysteries, or the divine presence, we embark on a journey along these potent avenues. One such path invites us to not merely divide time into the four seasons we know but to immerse ourselves in the ever-evolving tapestry of life, an intimate web of change that unfolds both within our hearts and in the world around us. This sacred wisdom, passed down through generations of Elders is so deeply woven into the fabric of all land, all ocean, and all sky, acts as a guide lighting our way back to the wild and interconnected sense of belonging that resides within our very essence.

Being is a way to let go and surrender.

Navigating the delicate dance between pursuing our desires and gracefully surrendering to the flow of life is a profound art—one that calls for attunement to the wisdom that resides within. In these moments of decision, where the heart yearns for clarity, the body and mind serve as our allies, offering subtle cues that guide our way. Tuning into these cues, especially in times of distress or stress, becomes our paramount priority amid the whirlwind of external events.

Here I share a list of my techniques and practices that allow me to tune into my inner sanctuary:

1. Physical Sensations: Our bodies hold an exquisite wisdom, unique to each one of us. When we're uncertain about whether to forge ahead or let go, pay attention to how your body responds. Tension and tightness may signify resistance to a particular path, while lightness and ease could indicate alignment.

2. Emotional Currents: Emotions are like ripples on the surface of a vast sea. They can provide valuable insights into the right course of action. Notice whether a sense of enthusiasm and expansiveness or apprehension and constriction accompany your decisions.

3. Mind's Whispers: Our thoughts can be powerful messengers. When we're at a crossroads, the mind might offer clear guidance. Listen to your inner dialogue. Is it a chorus of affirmations or a discord of doubts?

4. Synchronicities: Life often speaks to us through synchronicities—those seemingly serendipitous occurrences. When contemplating whether to pursue or surrender, observe if meaningful coincidences are lighting your path or if you're encountering constant roadblocks.

5. Breath as an Indicator: The breath is a bridge between the conscious and the subconscious. In moments of uncertainty, observe your breath. Is it shallow and erratic or deep and calm? The rhythm of your breath can reflect your inner state.

6. Heart's Wisdom: The heart's whispers are the most potent of all. Place your hand over your heart and inquire. Can you feel its gentle nudges, guiding you with a sense of resonance and warmth? Or is there a palpable unease?

7. Nature's Reflection: Sometimes, the world around us mirrors our inner terrain. While deciding whether to persist or release, take a moment to connect with nature. Pay attention to the signs it provides—a gentle breeze, a bird's song, or the rustling leaves.

8. Meditation and Silence: When you're caught in the struggle of choice, spend time in silence. Meditate, go for a contemplative walk, or simply sit quietly in nature, observe her. Amid the stillness, answers can emerge effortlessly.

9. Dreams and Intuition: Our dreams and intuitive insights often hold profound guidance. Keep a dream journal or pay heed to that quiet inner knowing. Your dreams and intuitions may shed light on your path and play a key role in understanding your own inner processors.

10. Seeking Wise Counsel: There's wisdom in seeking counsel from trusted friends, mentors, or elders. Their perspective can provide valuable insights and help you navigate the decision-making process.

11. Balance: Strive to maintain equilibrium. In times of stress and change, maintaining an inner balance is a powerful cue. If you find yourself teetering off-centre, it might be time to reassess your approach. Being present and grounded are the foundations of having a healthy balance in daily life.

As you become attuned to these cues, the art of knowing when to forge ahead or gracefully surrender becomes a fluid dance. The key is to listen and honour your inner compass, cultivating a deep connection with yourself. Amid life's ever-changing tides, it's in nurturing your inner sanctuary that you discover your truest guidance. Remember that, even in the face of external chaos, the sanctuary within can be a steadfast anchor, offering clarity in the midst of life's storms.

Connecting to our inner compass, we can then connect to others. It becomes easier to meet each other where we are.

As you attune to these cues, you embark on a journey of profound self-discovery. In the midst of life's ebbs and flows, your inner sanctuary serves as an anchor, offering clarity and guidance. It's through this understanding that I create tangible, physical products designed to help others connect with their senses, grounding them in the present moment and providing a source of calm. The alchemy of these tools and the wisdom of your inner world work together to foster a profound relationship with the world around you, with the goddess herself. Remember that you have a storewide 20% discount code to support you on this beautiful journey of connection and self-discovery.

May these practices serve as a guide to tuning into your inner compass. And may you find solace is listening to your inner wisdom. Navigating outside noise, stress or distress becomes easier to process when we come from a loving place within ourselves.

So much love,
